ADYTUM is a counselling service open to individuals, both adults and children, and also organisations.
ADYTUM started life in the Swansea area, and has gradually expanded as the service has become more well known and used by both our corporate and individual clients, who can now access the service via the internet and this website. We are now able to offer our services throughout Wales and most of the West Midlands, the Welsh Border Counties and the West Country. Adytum is associated with over thirty five counsellors who operate in the following areas - Wales plus Shropshire, Herefordshire, West Midlands, Birmingham, Worcestershire. Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Bristol and Avon, Somerset, Dorset and Devon.
All of the counsellors associated with ADYTUM have access to well appointed, comfortable and private premises where clients can feel safe and secure. Our aim is to provide a safe space whatever the problem and offer a completely confidential and professional service, with experienced and professionally qualified therapists.
Whatever the unique needs of the individual or organisation we will work towards meeting them, through discussion and planning. Whether the sessions last for six weeks or a year we aim to provide a positive lasting experience with a commitment to providing a complete and professional service.
Our work can be as varied as setting up an employee assistance programme, working with the courts with children going through the trauma of their parents' divorce, or assisting individuals who are having a life crisis.
Stress, bullying, divorce, trauma, addictions, depression, anxiety, sexual abuse, eating bdisorders, low self esteem, relationship issues or grief are some of the major issues that we deal with.
Our work is very much person / client centred, which encourages people to find their own solutions to their own issues. However a range of other approaches can be incorporated when appropriate. For instance, our work with children often uses elements of Art Therapy and Play Therapy. Counsellors are also trained in a range of other techniques which can be of benefit to the individual, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic, etc.
As counsellors/psychotherapists we are members of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow their code of ethics and practice.
The ethos of our counselling service is to enable people to access the right support for themselves, at an affordable cost, at the time when they need it most, so that they can reach their full potential in life.
Adytum Counselling Service is committed to ongoing training and support for those who work within the organisation.
