SUPERVISION
Tony has for the last few years (approximately 10 years) been involved in supervision.
On a regular basis he is involved with the supervision of members of the Swansea Counselling Service where he has been the co-ordinator for the last eight years. Here there are placements offered for trainee counsellors following the award of their Certificate in Counselling and whilst engaged in attaining their Diploma in Counselling. The supervision offered is on a monthly basis on the first Friday of each month.
Tony also supervises those whose job it is to be in a therapeutic role. He has ongoing contracts with a number of organisations that employ therapists, welfare officers, and others in a similar role. He does not of course supervise their day-to-day activities, but he does offer a service whereby the individuals concerned can talk confidentially about how their work can sometimes affect them personally. This provides the member of staff with an important "safety valve" for their work and another level of support outside of the organisation that employs them. This service is regarded by those organisations that take this support system up as being an indispensable part of their duty of care and safety towards their employees.
He also offers supervision and therapy for individuals as they work towards their relevant qualifications within Counselling and Psychotherapy. Tony is particularly supportive of students in terms of the fees he charges as he remembers how difficult it was when he first started out in his early years of training!
Tony is also available to work with people who are in the process of seeking professional accreditation. This can sometimes be a very daunting process and he will help to work through the process with you offering help and guidance, where necessary. In the very near future all counsellors and psychotherapists will need to be accredited and registered with a recognised professional body. Therefore, this has become a very necessary requirement for all counsellors and psychotherapists who wish to continue with their professional work. He also offers very competitive rates for this work.
